INTRODUCTION ABOUT MOXI EYE DROPS
MOXI EYE DROPS contains Moxifloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage bacterial conjunctivitis and other eye infections. Bacterial conjunctivitis is the infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) that lines the eyelid and covers the white part of your eyeball. Symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis include pain, discomfort, redness, itching, irritation, and watering of the eyes.
Patients should be advised not to wear contact lenses if they have signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis. MOXI EYE DROPS should be used with caution in pregnant women or if you think you may be pregnant and in breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor before using the medicine.
MOXI EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in the newborn and it should be used with caution in children and adolescents. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your child’s age and body weight. MOXI EYE DROPS should be used with caution in elderly patients of above 65 years of age. The common side effects are eye pain or irritation. Consult your doctor if the above symptoms does not improve.

HOW MOXI EYE DROPS WORKS
MOXI EYE DROPS works by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV which are required for DNA replication and transcription resulting in cell death. This manages the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing and destroys them.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Use MOXI EYE DROPS exactly as directed by your physician. Instil the medicine as advised by the physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your age, body weight and severity of the infection.
SIDE EFFECTS OF MOXI EYE DROPS
COMMON
- eye pain or irritation
UNCOMMON
- dryness, itchiness, and redness of eye
- eye surface inflammation or scarring
- broken blood vessel in eye seen as a bright red patch
- abnormal eye sensation, swelling
- headache
- bad taste
RARE
- corneal disorder
- blurred or reduced vision
- inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva
- eye strain or swelling
- vomiting
- nose discomfort
- feeling of a lump in the throat, pain and throat irritation
- signs of decreased iron in blood pale skin, weakness, cold hands, and feet
- signs of abnormal liver blood test like yellowing of eyes and skin
Stop using MOXI EYE DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, mouth, or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing
- rash or hives, large fluid filled blisters
- sores and ulceration
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Eye Irritation Or Itching
Close your eyes and relax for some time. Place an ice pack over the eyes for few minutes. Avoid watching mobile phone, system, laptop, or any other light sources which might irritate your eyes. If the symptom persists or worsens, contact your doctor.

Headache
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage on scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.

Nausea And Vomiting
Stick to simple meals. Try to Avoid oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks, and drinks. Try to drink liquid slowly along with your meals, or in between meals. Consult your doctor if your symptom is not improving.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Use with Caution
Do not drive or handle any machines while using this MOXI EYE DROPS, since it may cause blurred vision.

ALLERGY
Contraindicated
Do not use MOXI EYE DROPS you are allergic to Moxifloxacin or any other ingredients of this medicine.

USE IN PEDIATRICS
Contraindicated
MOXI EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in infants below 1 year of age since safety and effectiveness have not been established in this age group. Consult your doctor for advice.

USE IN GERIATRICS
Use with Caution
MOXI EYE DROPS should be used with caution in elderly patients of above 65 years of age. Consult your doctor for advice.
OTHERS
Before using MOXI EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you:
- wear contact lens
- have pain or swelling of the tendons (tendinitis)
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Inform your doctor if you are taking, using or have recently taken any other medicines, including prescription, non-prescription and herbal supplements.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally uses too much of MOXI EYE DROPS, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Wash your eyes and rinse it all out with warm water.
